“The beauty of landscapes” is the celebration of the museum: the first line of the project was drawn under this statement and the American spirit gained life within the walls of the construction. Now, as a reality and a physical space, “Crystal Bridges Museum” is all about contemporary architecture and the history of this country.
From the colonial era to nowadays, the corridors of the museum hide artworks with the signature of American masters. But the exterior is also a masterwork, drawn by the architect Moshe Safdie. Made of wood and glass, the edification was made taking on count the surrounding environment: a forest and a garden that welcome this new cultural space.
Bridges are made from the past to the present and the journey between them is materialized also in the design of the museum. The outlines are the bridge between the environment, the natural space and the local materials used. And the museum itself is based in two bridge structures: one with the exhibitions and the other with the reception and the café.
