She was born in the beginning of the 20th century by the hands of Oscar Barnack. There’s not a specific year but during the first two decades there were new lens, prototypes and experiences. Her name is “Leica” and is known not only in the photography community but also outside. Leica revolutionised photography and during many years was adopted by leading photographers and photojournalists. Some of the most famous shots of history were captured with this camera
There were already many renovations, reinventions and limited editions. With more than a century, 2012 was the year for a rare collaboration: the guru of photography joined the Parisian fashion and did a partnership with Hermès. They made two special M9-P editions, the first one is less expensive and has 300 cameras available. The second one, only with 100 cameras, is more luxurious and an outstanding piece of collection
The less expensive version, available for $25.000, uses some fancy calfskin leather with a silver chrome finish, and ships with a Leica Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH. The more expensive one, for $50.000, comes with a bag and a book and it’s a kit: includes a Leica Summicron-M 28 mm f/2 ASPH., a Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH. and a Leica APO-Summicron-M 90 mm f/2 ASPH. all finished in anodized silver
Leica and Hermès are celebrating a friendship with a manufactured symbol and an exclusive piece of collection. Now it’s time for you to be a photographer, or just a lover of luxury.
