2019 will always be remembered as one of the biggest moments of Kartell‘s incredible history because this is the year where the incredible furniture brand has presented for the first time ever, the first chair design built with an Artificial Intelligence process! The chair created by Philippe Starck represents one of the biggest turning points in the interior design industry!

“This is a research collaboration at the pinnacle of the industrial design world, resulting in one of the most creative outcome we’ve ever tried to achieve with generative design”, said Mark David, senior director of design futures at AutoDesk, the leading producer of 3D engineering and entertainment software that has developed the artificial intelligence for the innovative design project!

Also know as AI, this innovative product was presented to the public during Milan Design Week, at Salone Del Mobile. The presentation took place at Kartell’s booth and lasted around 30 minutes where Philippe Starck accompanied by Claudio Lutti presented this special dining chair while also explaining the concept behind it.

AI is a contemporary dining chair developed through an algorithm that respects the original brief created by the renowned French designer and Artificial Intelligence by AutoDeskIt took them 2 years to develop this the final product and the main idea was to surpass the human mind by speeding up the design process of an item.

“When Philippe gave me his idea and the results of his work done in collaboration with Autodesk, I immediately accepted the challenge of starting an industrial production on a project that for the first time was not born of our direct relationship or the dialectic between me and him in these thirty years of collaboration”, explained  Claudio Luti, President of Kartell at the AI formal presentation.
