They’ve become an interdisciplinary global design firm by expanding their team beyond architects and interior designers to include researchers, urban designers, nurses, anthropologists, graphic designers and more. At HKS, they view design as a process of discovery. Design research enables them to experiment, to improve — and to design smarter solutions. That’s particularly important as they strive to create a more resilient future.
Dan Noble | President and CEO
” We view design as a process of exploration
and discovery fueled by limitless thinking. “

Projects:
Residential Mixed-Use
HKS takes an integrated approach to residential mixed-use design, considering the needs of their clients, their investors, residents and the surrounding community. They craft designs that offer optimal unit planning, unit mix and amenity strategies, both inside and out. In all the work, they create bespoke environments for distinct lifestyles, integrating that vision from overall project concept to the finest architectural details.
Jasper Residential Tower
San Francisco, California, USA
The challenge was to create a luxury high-rise apartment community in one of San Francisco’s hottest downtown neighborhoods, designed to five-star urban hotel standards.
The LEED Silver certified project was considered a major planning breakthrough in San Francisco after HKS designers redesigned the west façade of the building to include windows for units that previously did not exist on that façade.
Hospitality:
Building upon eight decades of crafting intelligent, evocative design solutions, HKS creates experiential destinations that touch the soul of every guest. Their global team takes an inclusive, forward-thinking approach to create bespoke designs for their clients, their guests and communities. They offer holistic design services including architecture, interior design, site design, planning and feasibility services. Curiosity, creativity and intelligence are the hallmarks of their design teams who balance beauty and performance in each environment they create.

Esperanza, An Auberge Resort
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
After Esperanza suffered severe damage from Hurricane Odile in 2014, HKS was tasked with renovating the beloved Los Cabos seaside resort in just six months. But beyond a simple refresh, the design team’s redesign transformed the resort by uniting two key elements – color and culture – that combined the resort’s natural cliffside setting with Mexico’s rich artisanal heritage.
HKS took an iconic resort property and breathed new life into its design while remaining true to the spirit that has engendered a devoted guest following, evoking an exclusive yet barefoot-chic seaside sanctuary. It is the only private beach resort in Los Cabos.
Commercial:
Their commercial practice includes architecture, interior design, planning and branded environments to offer the clients comprehensive design solutions tailored to their needs. Their design teams leverage data and analytics, research and observation to create design solutions that achieve desired outcomes. They know they have been successful when the people who own, use and admire the places they create feel empowered, inspired and connected.

OneSource Virtual
Irving, Texas, USA
HKS designed the space to meet the needs of a multigenerational workforce. The environment supports a variety of work styles and balances a need for customer privacy with open-door access for employees. The new design elevates both the employee and client experience.
The new headquarters celebrates the rich brand and culture of OneSource Virtual. More than 1,000 on-site employees now have open-door access to executives as well as more discrete areas that protect customer privacy. Reallocating space from unoccupied, assigned offices — often the largest spaces for the least present population — created more room for shared needs. Today, each employee has at least 180 square feet of usable space.
Sports & Entertainment:
When the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium opened in 2009, HKS solidified our reputation as a paradigm-changing sports design firm. That one venue changed what fans expect when they attend a sporting event. Since then, we’ve translated those transformative insights into design for sporting venues and entertainment districts around the world.
