A NYC Apartment Decorated With Parisian Pied-à-Terre Design Ideas – Located in Gramercy Park, this contemporary apartment was created to fulfill the owners’ dreams and needs… With the new interior design, this bespoke apartment surely captures the essence of the classic design style that is so popular in France.
Design by Neal Beckstedt, the inspiration for this NYC apartment came for the classic Parisian Pied-à-Terre that everyone loves! The extremely skilled designer created a playful yet utterly elegant design project for a young cosmopolitan French couple so they could feel closer to their roots and culture!
“There’s an eclecticism about French design that is so attractive. We wanted to convey this sense of internationalism while keeping the design rooted in New York”, explains the interior designer!
In this interior design project, Neal Beckstedt was able to combine two of the public favorite things: a contemporary apartment in the Big Apple with Pied-À-Terre interiors. According to the designer, this contemporary French style inspired apartment suited the couple’s impeccable taste for chic interiors.

As you enter each room in the house you will notice a fun and unique detail… The interior designer placed heightening thresholds in order to impart an airy atmosphere of a shabby-chic vibe. All of the furnishings and decor were chosen to match the theme, as you can see by the Empire-style chandelier in the dining room, tasseled drapery in the living room, the Louis XVI fauteuils in the library, among many other.
Different details of the luxurious yet contemporary design style can be seen throughout the apartment combined with bold color tones and unusual shape furniture, like the tulip-like armchair by India Mahdavi. “I wanted to capture the couple’s youth and energy and spirit, and these more playful details felt sophisticated while offsetting the formality and traditionalism of some of the elements.” – Neal Beckstedt.
