NYCxDESIGN 2019 is the city’s annual celebration of design that moves many international attendees and designers since 2013. This incredible design celebration  was organized by several institutions, like the  New York City Economic Development Corporation, City agencies, the Mayor’s Office, City Council, and a steering committee composed of some of the City’s most renowned design institutions, retailers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, curators, educators, editors and interior designers. Here are the top 7 design destinations that you must visit in the city from May 10-22:

#1 Times Square Design Pavilion

This trendy Design Pavilion is a free multi-day design happening, completely open to the public, offering a suite of live programming, site-specific structures, interactive environments, and platforms for innovation. For the NYCxDesign 2019 program, the organization decided to incorporate some inspiring initiatives like the Times Square Design Lab, Design Talks NYC, Design Market NYC, “Sound & Vision” from the American Design Club, “A Sense of New York” workshops exploring sensory experiences of the city, among others!

#2 Storefront for Art & Architecture

This cross-disciplinary forum for design ideas and inspiring events and competitions has been promoting innovation and public discourse around critical issues currently impacting art and architecture, since the 1980s. Under the direction of José Esparza Chong Cuy, the current executive director and chief curator, Storefront continues to host rigorous exhibitions at the intersection of art and design.

#3 New York Design Center

Hosting about 100 showrooms, this interior center built in 1926 has been the design industry’s ultimate source for bespoke furniture, lighting, fabric, flooring and wallcoverings, and kitchen and bath accessories. For more than 85 years, the 16-story, 500,000- the square-foot center is the country’s oldest furniture and design building and a vital resource for A&D professionals.

#4 FortyOne Madison

First opened in 1974 as the New York Merchandise Mart designed by Emery Roth & Sons, this 23-floor glass-and-steel design building hosts more than 125 global design brands showrooms. #7 Westfield World Trade Center

Opened in 2016, the modern architecture project, known as Oculus, was created by a Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava. The modern building serves as a transit hub serving several subway lines as well as the PATH train to New Jersey. The Oculus building astounds visitors with its bone-white ribs and airy interior in the main atrium that is illuminated by a skylight that runs its entire length and is a downtown retail destination.
