Stark Textile Designs Inspired This Contemporary Style Apartment– With the help of Sasha Bikoff, the senior vice-president of the textile brand and president of Scalamandré, Chad Stark, decorated a stylish apartment in New York City.
Chad Stark wanted to incorporate high family’s fabric history in a contemporary style apartment so that everyone that would step inside this incredible project would understand the history behind the renowned, Stark textile designs.
With 29 years, Chad Stark is the senior vice president the New York-based fabric-and-rug empire that his grandparents founded eight decades ago, as well as the president of Scalamandré, a blue-chip American textiles brand that merged with Stark in 2017. Scalamandré’s famous Zebras pattern was given a brand new look in the bright blue color and was incorporated on the foyer walls.
For his first apartment renovation project, called a renowned interior designer that help him create a stunning contemporary interior design inspired by the first textile patterns introduced by his company!
Located in Manhattan’s East Village, the textile entrepreneur wanted to create a unique design project that not only would reflect his dynamic personality, but also enhanced the fabrics, rugs, and unique wall coverings from the brand’s first collections.
In order to capture the essence of the unique textile collection, Bikoff and Stark did research through the Stark brand archives where they could find the most inspirational design ideas for this New York City apartment. The luxurious Le Tigre silk velvet from Scalamandré’s Collection was used not only in some bespoke pillows for the living room decor but also in unique upholstered bowtie-shaped vintage dining chairs.
As you step inside the contemporary bedroom decor you’ll instantly notice the incredible hand-carved Indonesian wood doors. However, it’s the antique oil painting of a hunting dog above the headboard of the bespoke bed (which features some unique fabrics from Stark Textile Designs) that truly shows another of Chad’s main passions. “If there’s anything I like more than carpets, fabrics, and skiing, it’s dogs”, he says
