Adele Bloch-Bauer I by Gustav Klimt, 1907Klimt took three years to complete the painting. It is made of oil and gold on canvas, showing elaborate and complex ornamentation. The picture was painted in Vienna and commissioned by Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer. He sponsored the arts and favored and supported Gustav Klimt. Adele Bloch-Bauer became the only model who was painted twice by Klimt when he completed a second picture of her, Adele Bloch-Bauer II, in 1912.This painting was sold in 2006 in a private sale for $ 135 million.

“Garçon a la pipe” by Pablo Picasso, 1904
This artwork was painted in 1905 when Picasso was 24 years old. The oil on canvas painting depicts a Parisian boy holding a pipe in his left hand and wearing a garland or wreath of flowers. It was sold in 2004 by Sotheby’s New York and broke the record that Vincent van Gogh held since 1990. It was the first time that the $100 million barrier was broken.
