Launched in Milan in 1961 as a vehicle for promoting Italian exports of furnishing and accessories, the Salone del Mobile is the global benchmark event for the furnishing and design sector. The Salone is held in Milan in April every year, during Milan Design Week, along with the biennial Euroluce exhibition in odd years and EuroCucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition in even years, and in tandem with the annual International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and Workplace3.0.

Roberto Cavalli

The Roberto Cavalli Group, controlled by Italian investment fund Clessidra SGR, is one of the most important Italian companies operating in the luxury fashion, accessories and lifestyle sectors. Founded in the Seventies, when fashion designer and entrepreneur Roberto Cavalli launched the namesake brand, the Group currently operates a wide portfolio of internationally established labels positioned in the different segments of the high-end offering.

Being one of the biggest names in the Italian luxury brand‘s world, Roberto Cavalli Interiors has a regular presence at Salone del Mobile. In 2018, the brand joined the Tahiti chaise longue to its permanent collection after the chair’s success at the 2017 edition of the event.

Tom Dixon

Tom is a restless innovator who works mainly in lighting, accessories, and furniture. From his departure point in the early eighties, he has constantly reinvented himself through a series of different design lives – working with luxury Italian goods with Cappellini, Creative Director at Habitat and Artek, creating Plastics company Eurolounge and finally instigating his own eponymous brand in 2002 to rethink the product designer’s relationship with industry.

Patricia Urquiola

Spanish by birth, and Italian by choice, Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain and studied architecture in Madrid before graduating from the Milan Politecnico in 1989. She is one of the most coveted interior designers in the world and the keywords for her work are rigor and emotion, innovation and mental comfort. She was mentored by some of the masters of Italian industrial design: Achille Castiglioni oversaw her graduate thesis, and Vico Magistretti, with whom she designed her first projects. She learned her craft in Italy and opened a studio in Milan in 2001, where she has developed a truly global enterprise. At Salone del Mobile, she showcases her work and collaborations with other brands, like with Kartell.

Dimore Studio

Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran invested in their individual experience with the profession and study of Design, Art, and Fashion, and founded DIMORESTUDIO in 2003. Since that moment, they have designed and carried out every project in a personal and recognizable way: objects created by historical design masters live together with reclaimed materials and other “bespoke” objects to create and forge a particular atmosphere. Antonio Citterio

Besides his architecture career alongside Patricia Viel, Antonio Citterio has an amazing path as a designer. In the 2018 edition of Salone del Mobile, the designers shined with his special collections with B&B Italia. That collaboration has repeated itself once again, being presented at the Salone del Mobile 2019 edition.

Gaetano Pesce

Throughout his career, Pesce’s exuberant work has experimented with color and industrial materials like polyurethane foam, resin, and plastics. But perhaps his most radical innovation is the combination of social commentary and design. Piero Fornasetti

Fornasetti’s ‘Theme and Variations’ have come to comprise hundreds of transformations, alterations, ironic re-imaginations and decorative re-interpretations over the years. The artist deployed his infinite imagination towards Cavalieri’s melancholy eyes and plump lips, adapting the face to be framed in a variety of surreal scenarios and situations. This amazing interpretation has taken Italian craftsmanship across the globe.
