DeGross Design & Innovation is a design studio based in London. Our development team envisions products that are both sustainable and cost-effective.
During the design process we focus on efficiency. This means that products are crafted while maximising the raw material and minimising waste.
This approach is not only economic but is also sympathetic to ecological aspects such as E-waste. We are looking for ways to recycle and reuse products when they reach the end of their life cycle.
UTREM LUX is the name of a sustainable design project by Degross Design & Innovation that takes old glass bottles and reuses them to make lamps.
UTREM LUX is a series of lamps made from reused glass bottles that had been discarded behind our studio, and wood offcuts kindly given to us by our next-door neighbours ‘W. Hanson wood merchants’.
Each one of the designs is made individually, by hand, and has its own unique aesthetics. UTREM LUX will be launched at this year’sDesignersblock in Southbank centre as a part of London Design Festival in September 2012.
The bottles, which had been discarded behind their studio have been individually handcrafted into something entirely new. They even used wood offcuts given to them by our next-door neighbors W. Hanson wood merchants and used them in the designs as well
